Our prayers certainly go out to Emily who is working so hard to lead these young people and keep us parents informed! Here's her in-country update:
Wow- I've been wanting to get an update on here since we landed, but we have had internet and phone issues that are now resolved.
We got in Saturday evening safe and smooth. The students are so excited to be here.
Sunday- local Ugandan church service and lunch with the church staff and volunteers for the summer. The students had a great time getting immersed in the culture. In the evening students had worship, team time, and ministry tool training.
Monday- One team (DiNial led by Brittany and Chris) departed for Gulu in northern Uganda with Dan (Project director). Words can't describe the excitement in the air as they loaded the bus to go. The other team(Penguins- led by Charles and Jana) and Emily did a final cultural training session in Kampala and will soon head out this afternoon to a school to present the abstinence curriculum and build relationships with the students.
All the students are in good spirits and are excited about ministry.
We've had some great African food served by our amazing chef at the hostel. She treats us as if we are her family and the food is delicious. We are indeed reminding students to take their malaria medicine and drink lots of water. The weather has been great, sunny and in the mid 80's.
We all really appreciate your prayers and encouragement on the wall! Be proud of your kids, they have servant hearts and are about to make a huge impact.
Emily and Dan
