We received a call from Emily this afternoon, about 2 p.m. (9 p.m. in Uganda). She let us know that while Mary Beth was fine, that she had been to the doctor today because she'd had a sore throat a few days and did not have much of an appetite. She does not have any malaria or typhoid, but had some bacteria in her urine and blood tests, so they're treating her with antibiotics for a urinary tract infection and upper respiratory infection. She slept most of the day and was feeling better this evening. Emily says that she's a sweet girl and doing fine. Mary Beth texted us several times tonight on a global phone -- missing us, hoping for a puppy when she gets home, feeling better, not liking the food much, and enjoying watching the US v. Ghana game with the group. They go to bed at 10:30 each night, so I guess they did not see the end result.
Here's more update on the day from Emily: The team from Gulu arrived back in Kampala safe and sound tonight. They were welcomed back with cheering, signs, and even an original song from the Kampala team. We sure are happy to all be back together again. We'll be going to church together in the morning and then in the evening take part in the traditional "war stories" where kids will get a chance to hear from both teams what God has been doing. Today the team in Kampala had a chance to visit and minister at a Salvation Army orphanage. Many of the children there were from up north and had been affected by the LRA. Our students played games with them and shared some skits that present the Gospel. Then we got to see their traditional dances and songs, what a treat! In the afternoon our students got to help with some painting projects and had a blast serving. Yesterday, the team in Gulu got to minister in a primary school with skits and games, and then presented the abstinence curriculum in the afternoon. We are so happy that all the teenagers in Gulu were released from the hospital yesterday and are all healing quite well. Monday will be the first free day for the students where they will have some down time and shopping opportunities. We hope to have the kids call home that day. Tuesday the teams will get back to regular ministry. Thanks again for all the prayers.
Here's a picture from Gaby's (another missionary) Facebook page. Hopefully Mary Beth will wake up feeling great from a day's worth of antibiotics working! Keep those prayers coming her way!
