Mama John called Mary Beth this morning, to talk with her before she left. She and I spoke a few moments, too, and she relayed that many of her friends report that Uganda is doing well these years. She recalled her time in post-Idi Amin Uganda in 1979 and was thankful that those days were over for the country and for missionaries there! Me too! Mary Beth was so appreciative of the uplifting and positive call from Mama John, who lived in Williamsburg briefly and now lives in South Carolina. Mary Beth looks up to Mama John and is inspired by her faith and spirit.
David and I have our flight home booked and a rental car secured. We'll just be with Mary Beth the one day in Texas; she'll be quite busy training!
Mary Beth and I have been judiciously and carefully packing all week and hope to finish this Sunday evening. Those "space" bags that vacuum seal are amazing and have been a welcome addition to our packing routine.
Next week will be so busy for our girl. She will be finishing the "on the road" portion of drivers' ed, and she'll take 1 SOL test, 2 German tests, 1 trig test, and an exam in German, trig and oceanography -- the price we pay for leaving school 4 days before the end of the year. Pray for her to keep focused, well-rested and positive.
Peace, love, happiness and God's grace to you!
